As part of our commitment to transparency, I am pleased to share with you three new reports related to DKT results and finances.
DKT’s 2016 Annual Report is now available on our website. This highlights 2015 performance and 2014 financial results. It also documents our 2015 contribution to the new Sustainability Development Guidelines.
In 2015, for the first time, DKT reached 30 million couples with protection from unwanted pregnancy. Despite this milestone, we know there is much work that remains, which keeps us focused on our mission. You can view and download the report here.
The 2015 DKT Health Impact by Country Program Report provides details of the impact from each DKT country program. We are indebted to Marie Stopes International for crunching th i s data via their Impact Calculator.
Based on the se calculations, DKT’s 2015 health impact averted nearly 5.5 million pregnancies and 3.8 million unsafe abortions. In addition, DKT’s efforts averted 36,600 child deaths and 13,800 maternal deaths.
Another report shows DKT’s Couple Years of Protection (CYPs) delivered by country and the estimated contribution of these CYPs to contraceptive prevalence in selected countries. In several countries, like Ethiopia, Ghana and the Philippines, DKT plays a very significant role.
