DKT International Announces 2025 Phil Harvey Innovation Award Winners

Three bold leaders from Kenya, Nigeria, and Lebanon recognized ahead of ICFP 2025 for breaking barriers in sexual and reproductive health.

October 6th, Washington, D.C. – DKT International is proud to announce the three winners of the 2025 Phil Harvey Innovation Award: Silvia Okoth, Chioma Favour Uzoma, and Noor Jaber.

In a world where millions face barriers to sexual and reproductive health care, three visionary leaders are being recognized for bold solutions that bring care, dignity, and choice to the hardest-to-reach communities. The Phil Harvey Innovation Award, launched at the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in 2022, honors the legacy of DKT’s founder, Phil Harvey, a pioneer in global family planning and social marketing. The award recognizes individuals and organizations who demonstrate entrepreneurial vision, courage, and innovation in the face of significant challenges, particularly in underserved and marginalized communities. The announcement comes as the global Family Planning community prepares to gather at ICFP 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia, this November, where innovation and equity will be at the center of the conversation.

The 2025 Phil Harvey Innovation Award winners will each receive $10,000 and technical support from DKT International to scale their initiatives and continue advancing reproductive health and rights worldwide.

Silvia Okoth is a Kenyan SRHR advocate and community organizer whose project, Dumpsite Dadas: Reclaiming SRHR for Kenya’s Most Forgotten Women, delivers sex-positive, peer-led sexual and reproductive health services to women and girls living in dumpsites and on the streets. As Advocacy & Policy Manager at the Bar Hostess Empowerment & Support Programme (BHESP), Silvia has led efforts to ensure access to contraception, HIV care, safe abortion, and GBV prevention for women in highly marginalized settings. Her work across Kenya addresses the intersections of poverty, climate vulnerability, and health.

“This honor belongs to the forgotten, girls I grew up with in the dumpsite, denied their reproductive rights and driven toward unsafe procedures—fueling my fight for reproductive justice so that dignity, information, and compassionate care are guaranteed for every girl and are non-negotiable everywhere.”

Chioma Favour Uzoma is a Nigerian pharmacist, digital health innovator, and founder of Medvax Health, a women-centric health technology company. Her innovative Medtracka App integrates telemedicine, discreet e-pharmacy services, peer support, and an AI-powered health assistant to expand access to sexual, maternal, and reproductive health products and information. Medtracka has already reached more than 4,500 women and girls across Nigeria, offering stigma-free and affordable care. Chioma’s work has received global recognition from the Gates Foundation, UNFPA Equalizer Fund, and HP Foundation, highlighting her role in shaping Africa’s tech-enabled SRHR future.

“Our work at Medvax Health and TMI Africa is driven by the conviction that uninterrupted access to quality and affordable sexual and reproductive health commodities, is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Through inclusive technology, efficient SRH supply chains and innovation, we are bridging health equity gaps, and working to ensure reproductive health commodity security for women and girls in Sub-Saharan Africa.”

Noor Jaber, a Lebanese public health researcher and practitioner, founded Nawat Health, a digital platform that provides Arab women with anonymous access to evidence-based SRHR resources in both Arabic and English. With a decade of experience in humanitarian emergencies through the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Noor brings a unique perspective to tackling taboo topics, including sex, pleasure, and gender-based violence, in the Middle East. Nawat empowers women to make informed decisions about their health by creating a safe, judgment-free space for women to access judgment-free medical consultations and SRHR education.

“The future of women’s health in the Arab region must be built on compassion, equity, and voice. Through Nawat’s digital platform, we are breaking taboos by opening trusted spaces for education, dialogue, and care. Together, we are shaping sustainable, tech-enabled solutions that place women’s needs at the very core —the Nawat—of how health is understood and delivered.”

Together, these winners demonstrate that innovation in SRHR is being led from the grassroots to the global stage, showing the path forward for more equitable, inclusive health systems.

“Phil Harvey believed in bold ideas and challenging the status quo, Silvia, Chioma, and Noor exemplify his legacy by creating innovative, community-driven solutions that expand reproductive freedom and dignity for women and girls in some of the world’s most challenging contexts.”
