DKT Results 2013
Dear Friend of DKT,
DKT’s 2013 numbers and health impact data are in and I’m pleased to share these with you.
In 2013, DKT globally:
– averted more than 8.3 million unintended pregnancies
– prevented 12,000 maternal and 68,000 child deaths
– averted 1.8 million abortions
I am attaching a breakdown of these figures by the country in which we work. We gratefully acknowledge Marie Stopes International and their Impact Calculator in the analysis of this data.
DKT’s 2013 sale and provision of contraceptives and services included:
– 548 million condoms
– 71 million oral contraceptives
– 17 million injectable contraceptives
– 1.7 million IUDs
– 2.1 million emergency contraceptive pills
– 13 million misoprostol pills
– 1.2 million medical abortion doses
– 52,000 tubal ligations and vasectomies
– 80,000 implants
– 30,000 MVA kits and cannulae
We are proud of these numbers and the tremendous effort and impact that they represent. More importantly, these numbers reflect approximately 21 million women and men who were able to choose family size and control their reproductive lives as they wished.
