Dear Friend of DKT,
Providing contraceptive products and information to millions of people around the world is no easy task. With ambitious goals come inevitable challenges. From conflict zones to remote regions and areas struck by natural disasters, DKT’s global staff work tirelessly to ensure contraceptives reach those who need them most. In this newsletter, we share how our teams in Burkina Faso and Mozambique are confronting these challenges head-on and finding creative ways to ensure access.
October 9th is ‘DAF Day’, and if you are an owner of a Donor-Advised Fund, we’d like to ask for your support to enable our work. DKT is a great return on investment: our overhead costs are extremely low, and 100% of your DAF donation will go to supporting field work – not headquarters or management costs. Our cost to reach a couple with pregnancy prevention is one of the lowest around, at less than $1 per couple.
In case you missed it, we have renewed our FP2030 commitment, pledging $2 billion from DKT’s sales revenues to cover commodity and operational costs. Covering those core expenses from sales revenues means that your donor dollars are used where they are needed most: reaching vulnerable groups, supporting last-mile distribution, and healthcare provider training. Additionally, as part of our FP2030 commitment, we are proud to support the Made Possible by Family Planning campaign.
What does ‘contraceptive access’ look like? Well, so far this year, we have launched 35 new contraceptive products and 15 safe abortion products across 33 countries. Highlights include two different types of IUDs in Argentina, Mife and Miso in Colombia, and Levoplant in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We are also happy to share that we had our first-ever sale of hormonal contraceptive implants in India by DKT India in August. We will continue to share these exciting product launches as the year progresses.

We’ll soon be announcing the Phil Harvey Award Winners along with more information about DKT’s presence at the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in November, so keep an eye on our LinkedIn and on your inbox!
Cheers,

“Your sexuality with peace of mind”- new ad campaign from the DRC
We’re proud to bring you our two newest ad campaigns from Aleze Contraceptives and OK Condoms in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
As one of the largest providers of family planning and contraception in the DRC, DKT DR Congo plays a key role in ensuring women have access to a full range of products at affordable prices. These ads demedicalize contraception, focus on methods that meet the tailored needs of each woman, and don’t forget that pleasure is a central component to safe sex.

How our work in the DR Congo impacts the environment
In the DRC, DKT’s work is at the intersection of environmental and sexual and reproductive health. Through the PROMIS initiative (Programme de Mise à l’Échelle de la Planification Familiale (Program to Scale-up Family Planning)), funded by the Central African Forest Initiative through Fonaredd and implemented by a consortium of NGOs, including DKT, we are advancing a woman-centered approach that empowers communities with knowledge, expands access to contraception, and strengthens healthcare systems in ways that are responsive to local cultural norms.
The second stage of this project, PROMIS II, which began implementation in June of this year, emphasizes women’s empowerment and education—two themes echoed by global research highlighting the importance of listening to women’s voices, integrating healthcare provider training, and delivering information that meets women where they are.

Our efforts are producing results in 2025; through July, we sold roughly 95,000 IUDs, 312,000 implants, and 1 million emergency contraceptives in the DRC, to name a few. To see historical sales in DRC and all DKT countries, check out our data pages here.
Delivering sexual and reproductive healthcare amid conflict
DKT works in conflict zones to ensure political and military disruptions interfere as little as possible with women’s access to contraception. Our teams adapt quickly to sustain services in challenging environments. In Burkina Faso, attacks by armed groups in 2024 displaced nearly 2 million people and left 31% of health facilities partially open or non-operational. In response, DKT Francophone West and Central Africa increased outreach, launched local language campaigns in rural areas, supplied misoprostol to conflict areas in coordination with the government, and visited affected health centers to continue providing SRH services. As a result, we expect to deliver approximately 208,000 CYPs in 2025 in Burkina Faso. Our list of products that we make available there includes oral contraceptives, lubricants, and 3-month injectables.

In Mozambique, escalating violence in Cabo Delgado displaced thousands and disrupted health services as the conflict spread into Nampula. DKT’s mobile clinics continue to deliver essential services through strong coordination with local authorities, reaching internally displaced persons arriving in the city of Pemba, while our sales team adjusts travel and relies on local sales and distribution to keep products available. Through August, our mobile outreach teams have inserted more than 23,000 contraceptive implants and 4,800 IUDs, and provided 49,000 contraceptive injections and 69,000 oral contraceptive pills.

How donor support transforms access to care for women around the world
Your support has a real impact: a recent $10,000 gift to DKT Pakistan reached 20,000 women with accurate information and personalized counseling through digital platforms like call centers and chatbots. Meanwhile, $50,000 to DKT East Africa is increasing access to family planning, HIV prevention, and safe abortion products—filling critical gaps left by the recent dissolution of USAID.
With DAF Day just two weeks away on October 9, we invite you to use your Donor-Advised Fund to expand affordable, high-quality sexual and reproductive health options worldwide. While billions of dollars remain parked in DAFs, your gift can make a difference today. DKT is proud to be part of DAF Day, and we hope you’ll show us what your DAF can do.
