Dear Friend of DKT,
I am writing to ask for your support on this Giving Tuesday for DKT International. We don’t send out fundraising emails very often and don’t have a huge fundraising machine (we’re more efficient that way), but we still need and appreciate your support.
DKT is one of the largest providers of contraception and safe abortion products, services, and technology in the world. We deliver impact at scale and cost-effectively. In 2022, we were able to provide a year’s supply of contraception to couples at a cost to donors of less than $1.
While we pride ourselves on building a sustainable and entrepreneurial business model, we can’t accomplish our goals alone. Donor dollars help us reach vulnerable and traditionally underserved groups, work in conflict areas, and support activities that enable low-income individuals to access care.
The gift you provide has an immediate impact and directly supports our programs. DKT’s overhead cost in the United States represents less than 2% of our operating budget and our fundraising cost is a fraction of that.
Here are just a few programs we are excited about where your input and support will make a difference:
Training midwives in Afghanistan. DKT continues to serve hospitals and clinics in Kabul and has signed agreements with the current government that allows it to import a range of contraceptives.
Marketing abortion pills in Nicaragua. We just received the country’s first approval to import mifepristone here and plan to get that underway in Q1 of 2024. This is one of numerous countries where DKT is breaking down barriers to increase access to these important drugs.
Ensuring contraceptive access in forest areas around the Congo Basin. This area covers DR Congo, Congo, Gabon, and Cameroon and is threatened by overpopulation. We are working with governments such as the one now in the DR Congo to ensure everyone has the contraception they need at a price they can afford.
