Maputo, Mozambique, November 12, 2025 – DKT International has been announced as one of 80+ organizations that were awarded funding through Action for Women’s Health, a $250 million global open call, launched in 2024 to support organizations working to improve women’s mental and physical health around the world.
Although women make up half of the world’s population, they face inequities in nearly every aspect of their health. Women’s health is chronically underfunded and under-researched, and even when resources and solutions do exist, they often aren’t reaching the women who need them.
In Mozambique, women often face social, geographic, and economic barriers to essential care. DKT is reshaping the sexual and reproductive health landscape by combining social marketing with last-mile delivery to make contraceptives and safe abortion products accessible nationwide. Our affordable products reach over 6,000 retail outlets and are backed by gender-transformative campaigns that challenge stigma and promote women’s autonomy. Through mobile clinics and community health networks, DKT provides vital services to underserved populations, especially adolescents, unmarried women, and those in remote areas. For many, DKT is their first and only source of trusted, stigma-free reproductive health information and care.

Over 4,000 organizations from 119 countries applied, offering solutions across the lifespan for women. After a rigorous peer and expert review process, 80+ organizations have been identified, many of whom have historically lacked access to major funding streams. This funding will have real impact for women across geographies, life stages, and identities.
Action for Women’s Health is funded by Pivotal, a group of impact organizations founded by Melinda French Gates, and managed by Lever for Change, an organization with a track record of identifying bold ideas to solve the world’s most pressing problems.

In 2024, DKT delivered more than 67.3 million couple years of protection (CYPs), making DKT one of the largest private providers of family planning in the world. DKT’s sales totals for 2024 included 926.1 million condoms, 132.4 million oral contraceptives, 44.9 million injectables, 6 million IUDs, and more than 41 million safe abortion products, like misoprostol and MVA kits. DKT’s 2024 sales averted 43,400 maternal deaths, 18.7 million unsafe abortions, and 26.35 million unintended pregnancies.
