- Seeing high rates of unintended pregnancies and abortion incidence due to low contraceptive prevalence and a high-priced commercial condom market, DKT Turkey was established in 2008.
- Turkey legalized family planning education in the mid-1960s and legalized abortion in 1983. Turkey’s reproductive health programs have helped the country achieve a contraceptive prevalence rate of 64%. However, there is still a high degree of unintended pregnancies and abortion.
- DKT markets and distributes condoms, emergency contraception, and IUDs throughout the country.
- DKT Turkey’s current strategic goals are to increase availability of condom, emergency contraception, and IUDs, reduce prices for these products in the commercial sector, and achieve greater sustainability.
